It took 40 years, but a lost work by the prolific Nobel laureate and Pulitzer Prize–winning novelist Pearl S. Buck has been found. The manuscript of the novel, titled The Eternal Wonder, is believed to have been completed shortly before Buck died of cancer in 1973. The book somehow wound up in Texas, where it was stumbled upon in a storage unit and returned to the Buck family last year for a small fee. Digital publisher Open Road Integrated Media will release the book, which is partly set in Korea, on October 22. Buck is best known for her second novel, The Good Earth, a portrait of Chinese farmers that became a huge bestseller and won the Pulitzer Prize in 1932. In 1938 she became the first American woman to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.
