County Sheriff Dead in Arkansas Floods

Severe weather including heavy rains, hail, and even tornadoes hit Arkansas overnight causing, among the damage, fatal floods. The number of deaths is still unknown, but it has been confirmed that Sheriff Cody Carpenter, of Arkansas’s Scott County, was killed in the flooding. According to state police, there have been other confirmed fatalities in the same area where Carpenter was checking on a home when he went missing amid the rush of floodwater Thursday night. A Scott County sheriff’s office dispatcher said water rescues are currently being carried out, as the flooding is still very widespread.
