Prince Philip to Undergo Surgery

    Prince Philip will spend his 92nd birthday in a London hospital recovering from “exploratory” surgery. Queen Elizabeth II’s husband was admitted to the hospital Friday, just one day after attending a garden party at Buckingham Palace where he reportedly seemed in good spirits and made no mention of upcoming surgery. Though a statement from the royal household said Philip was in “very good health,” this latest hospitalization is just the most recent sign that the royal couple—who’ve been married since 1947—is slowing down. Last year, Philip was hospitalized for a bladder infection, and this spring symptoms of gastroenteritis landed the queen in the hospital.
