A police officer leads children on a field trip out of Santa Monica College, following a shooting in the area. The students from Citizens of the World Charter School in Los Angeles had gone for a planetarium show when two people were found dead Friday in a burned home near the campus and a suspect sprayed a street corner with gunfire.

Santa Monica police identified the shooter in Friday's rampage as John Zawahri, a man in his 20s who once attended the school and who they think was motivated by anger over his parents' divorce, according to the Los Angeles Times. Police said the first two victims were the suspects' father and brother, whose bodies were found in their burnt-down house. A witness said he saw Zawahri outside the burning building, describing him as looking like a "SWAT officer." Police are still unsure of why he decided to move on to the college, although he once was a student there. The first victim has been identified as Carlos Navarro Franco, 68, who was killed while the gunman shot indiscriminately at vehicles. Another victim is at a local hospital in “grave condition.”
