    Syria Decision Made Weeks Ago

    President Obama announced Thursday that the U.S. would send weapons to Syrian rebels in response to the President Bashar al-Assad’s use of chemical weapons. But now officials are saying that the decision to send weapons was made weeks ago, and the chemical weapons only provided secondary justification. After the civil war began to turn in the government's favor in late April, Obama ordered officials to start planning what weapons to send to rebels and how to get them there. But they still haven't revealed everything: although we know now that the weapons are being sent, that what and how remain a secret.
