    Obama Gives Medal to George Lucas

    The man who brought us Chewbacca is finally getting his due. President Obama will be presenting Star Wars and Indiana Jones creator extraordinare George Lucas with the National Medal of Arts on Monday. “Mr. Lucas has transported us to new worlds and created some of the most beloved and iconic films of all time,” the White House said in a statement. He’s one of 12 artists, authors, and musicians to receive the award next week, and an additional 12 National Humanities medals will be given out, including one to author Joan Didion for her “mastery of style in writing.”
