Alex Rodriguez is ready to play ball, according to ESPN. The Yankees third baseman is working on a deal that would result in a lengthy suspension instead of the lifetime ban proposed by some MLB officials, which Rodriguez’s attorney has said they would fight in arbitration. A-Rod and eight others players have gotten into hot water over their involvement with Biogenesis, a Miami clinic that allegedly provided them with human growth hormone, a performance-enhancing drug. Sources also told ESPN that evidence showed A-Rod had attempted to coerce a witness in the investigation. If a deal is made, Rodriguez would likely be suspended through the 2014 season.
