Clooney Bashes Hedge-Fund Manager

George Clooney isn't afraid of Wall Street. In an interview with Deadline Hollywood, the actor slammed Daniel Loeb, one of the largest hedge-fund managers, for manipulating the markets and negatively influencing the film studios. Loeb's fund, Third Point, owns 7 percent of Sony stock and has been pushing for the company to separate its entertainment brand. "[Loeb] calls himself an activist investor, and I would call him a carpetbagger, and one who is trying to spread a climate of fear that pushes studios to want to make only tent poles," he said, referring to the big blockbusters. "What he’s doing is scaring studios and pushing them to make decisions from a place of fear."
