    Assad Sets Conditions for Deal

    Well, we might be back to the drawing board. On Thursday, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad outlined conditions for a deal for the surrender of his chemical weapons, announcing that the U.S. must stop arming Syrian rebels and drop threats of military intervention. The comments were broadcast on Russian state TV, at the same time that Secretary of State John Kerry was telling opposition forces via phone that the U.S. will continue to stand by them. Assad noted that it had yet to be seen if the U.S. "really wants stability in our region," and any agreement would have to be a "two-way street."
