Paula Deen must be hoping a good serving of butter will cause everyone to forget. The cooking show star made her first steps toward redemption on Saturday, appearing at the Metro Cooking & Entertaining show in Houston and crying “tears of joy” at being back on the stage. It was her first public appearance since she quit her show in June after being outed for using racial slurs. She received a standing ovation and thunderous applause from the crowd of 1,500. Prior to the show, she reportedly told TMZ that she didn’t need a comeback because she “never went anywhere.”
