A new face will be joining Seth Meyers at SNL’ s “Weekend Update” anchor desk. In an interview with The New York Times, Lorne Michaels said Cecily Strong will be sitting alongside Meyers starting on the September 28 premiere. “Cecily, from the first show, was right there,” Michaels said. “She exploded.” It’s not clear how much longer Meyers will remain on “Weekend Update.” He's slated to begin hosting NBC’s Late Night in February once Jimmy Fallon departs that show to take over for Jay Leno on The Tonight Show. Michaels said he hopes that Meyers will stay on for “Weekend Update” since Late Night doesn’t tape on Fridays.
