In a meeting with the U.N. Security Council and Germany in Geneva, Iran held “substantive and forward-looking” talks about Tehran’s nuclear program, according to a joint statement. The talks were the first since Hassan Rouhani became president of Iran and more talks are scheduled in Geneva on November 7 and 8. Though Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif would not go into detail, U.S. Undersecretary of State Wendy Sherman told CNN on Wednesday, “Foreign Minister Zarif and his delegation came prepared for detailed, substantive discussion with a candor that I certainly have not heard in the two years I’ve been meeting with Iranians.”
