Out with the Bloomberg, in with the de Blasio. No surprise here: on Tuesday night Bill de Blasio won over voters to become New York City’s next mayor. The Democrat beat Republican contender Joe Lhota, and polls show de Blasio had support from voters regardless of race, gender, age, education, religion, and income. He will serve as New York City’s 109th mayor after Michael Bloomberg departs the office in January. Voters also approved a constitutional amendment that authorizes as many as seven full-scale casinos intended to create more jobs for New Yorkers.
