Thor: The Dark World crushed the competition at the weekend box office, netting $479 million globally with $38.4 million domestically. But the real surprise story was the No. 2 slot: The Best Man Holiday took in $30.6 million, far better than projected—especially since the first film netted just $9 million in its opening weekend in 1999. The Best Man Holiday also got an A+ in Cinema Score in every category, a rare feat. Black moviegoers made up 87 percent of the audience. Last Vegas came in third in its third weekend with $8.9 million, Free Birds grossed $8.5 million in its third week, and Jackass Presents: Bad Granpa took in $7.8 million.
