A recent report by UNICEF paints a picture of escalating atrocities in the Central African Republic, where violence between Christian militias and Muslim rebels has killed more than 1,000 people and left 400,000 displaced. According to the United Nations agency, at least two children have been beheaded and one of them brutally mutilated. At least 16 children have been killed, more than 60 injured, and 6,000 conscripted as child soldiers since unrest broke out in early December.
