    Hollande Splits From First Lady

French President Francois Hollande has separated from his partner Valerie Trierweiler, according to a statement he delivered through the state-backed Agence France Presse new agency January 25, 2014.  Hollande broke his silence following a media storm over allegations he is having an affair with an actress.Two weeks ago celebrity magazine Closer published a report that Hollande was having an affair with a French actress, running pictures it said was the president wearing a motorcycle helmet arriving via scooter. Trierweiler, 48, Hollande's partner since 2006, plans to travel to India on Sunday for a charity trip.  Picture taken January 11, 2014.     Oh, the French and their free-spirited romance. After seven years together, Hollande and Valerie Trierweiler are breaking up. Agence France Presse reports that Hollande told the organization “I am making it known that I have put an end to my relationship.” The French President and his long-time girlfriend, who served as de facto First Lady, have ended their relationship just two weeks after reports of Hollande's affair with actress Julie Gayet. Luckily for Hollande, now that this is behind him, he can focus on happier topics, like the European economy.
