This isn't your happy Eastern news. Saudi Arabia announced Sunday that the country has seen a sudden increase in cases of Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), which kills one-third of all who contract it and has no cure. The country reported seven additional new cases, making the total 36 in just five days. Another cluster of cases has already been detected in the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen reported its first case last week. Some medical experts believe that MERS could possibly die out on its own. However, others are deeply worried it could mutate and become a massive international health crises, especially when the country is faced with the influx of Muslim pilgrims in July during Ramadan and then millions more in early October for the Haj.
