Move over, Cory Booker: There is a new elected official playing local Superman. On Monday night, Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber performed CPR on a woman lying unconscious on a Portland street until paramedics arrived. Kitzhaber, who is a former emergency-room doctor, was on his way to dinner when he ordered his car to stop. He ran to the aid of the woman, who a paramedic said “had possibly overdosed.” She made it to the hospital and is expected to survive. This is hardly the first time Kitzhaber has leaped into action. During a gubernatorial primary debate, he aided a man having a seizure, and once chased down an intruder at his Portland office.
