A 19-year-old was charged in Oklahoma City federal court for engaging in sex acts with children in Kenya. Matthew Lane Durham was charged last week with four counts of traveling to engage in sexual conduct with minors. Durham allegedly had sexual relations with four to 10 children, ranging in age from four to nine years old, during his time volunteering at Upendo Children’s Home in Nairobi. Durham’s lawyer denies the claims and said “pseudo-tribal psychological voodoo [was] practiced on him [Durham], including confiscating his passport, false imprisonment, keeping food from him one day, delay in allowing him to depart from the country, misleading his parents.” However, Durham allegedly wrote graphic accounts about the sexual incidents. He is currently being held without bail and faces life in prison.
