    Broncos Owner Quits Over Alzheimer’s

After bringing six Super Bowl appearances and two championships to Denver, Broncos owner Pat Bowlen is stepping down to battle Alzheimer’s disease. Bowlen, 70, has put the team into a trust controlled by non-family members, and team president Joe Ellis will take over day-to-day control. “It’s a really, really sad day,“ Ellis said. “It’s sad for his family, his wife and his seven children. It’s sad for everyone in the organization. And it’s sad for all the Bronco fans who know what Pat Bowlen meant to them as an owner. It’s a day nobody wanted to see happen.” The team is not being put up for sale, and apparently Bowlen wants one of his seven children to run the team when they are ready.
