The charitable foundation of Paul Allen, the co-founder of Microsoft, will announce that it is donating $9 million to aid American efforts to fight the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, Reuters reports. The money will be directed to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and will help the agency set up emergency centers in Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone. Those are the hardest-hit among the countries battling the outbreak, with Liberia reporting the largest share of the approximately 2,300 people killed by the virus. The gift comes amid reports from groups fighting the widening epidemic that they are running out of resources. The Paul G. Allen Family Foundation also donated $2.8 million last month to the Red Cross for its efforts in the outbreak.
