Netflix has refused to hand over confidential business data to Canada's TV regulator, which says the American video streaming company risks revocation of a new media exemption to operate Netflix Canada if it does not comply. The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Comission ordered Netflix to provide the information by Monday evening, but the company rejected the demand on the ground that the CRTC has not guaranteed the data will remain confidential. The streamer told the Canadian regulator, which was seeking numbers of subscribers and other closely held data, that no guarantee of confidentiality meant key business information could fall into the hands of competitors.
