Four civilians were killed and nine were injured by shrapnel during fighting in Donetsk on Saturday and Sunday. Despite a ceasefire agreed to on September 5, pro-Russian rebels and Ukrainian forces have exchanged fire multiple times in eastern Ukraine. Ukrainian military spokesman Andriy Lysenko said 13 soldiers had been injured in the past 24 hours. There was no comment yet on pro-Russian separatist casualties. The shelling occurred as Ukraine and Russia come closer to a gas agreement in time for the winter. Russia halted Ukraine's supply in June. Although the plan hasn't been finalized, Russia and Ukraine reached an interim price deal. However, the negotiations did not significantly ease political tensions between the two countries. Putin refused to denounce rebels in eastern Ukraine, while Kiev and the West suspect Russia of supporting them militarily.
