Family: Ebola Nurse Followed Protocols

Dallas nurse Amber Vinson, who tested positive for Ebola after flying to Cleveland and returning home, did not ignore medical or government protocols related to the disease, her family said Sunday. In a statement issued through a Washington lawyer, the family said any such suggestions are false and that Vinson would not knowingly expose anyone else to the virus. The statement said Vinson reported her body temperature three times before boarding her flight to Dallas last week. Vinson cared for Thomas Eric Duncan, who died of Ebola in Dallas, and she was diagnosed last week. She is being cared for in a specialized unit at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. Her colleague Nina Pham also is being treated for Ebola, at the National Institutes of Health in Maryland.
