According to the UK’s Royal Society for Public Health, an average 250ml glass of wine has more calories than your average sugary doughnut, so it’s high time those bottles of alcohol had calorie-content labels. “It could help the nation’s waistlines as well as probably reduce alcohol consumption,” said RSPH Chief Executive Shirley Cramer. “Eighty percent of adults have no idea what the calorie count is in anything they’re drinking, and if they do think they have an idea, they totally underestimate it anyway.” As a result, Public Health Minister Jane Ellison said the government will examine the issue.
