The Supreme Court on Wednesday denied Republican Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona a request for a stay of an appeals’ court ruling allowing for Arizona immigrants, or “DREAMers,” to get driver’s licenses. No reason was given of he decision, however Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas, and Samuel Alito dissented. The ruling affects roughly 22,000 Arizonans who were accepted by the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program started in 2012 by the Obama administration. It affects those who arrived in this country illegally as children.
