An Israeli bank has agreed to pay $400 million in a settlement deal with the Department of Justice for helping American taxpayers evade taxes in offshore accounts. Bank Leumi group, one of the country’s largest banks, admitted to secretly hiding American assets in Israel, Switzerland, Luxembourg, and the United States between 2000 and 2011. This is the first time an Israeli bank has come clean about such criminal conduct.
