Two SEPTA transit officers in Philadelphia got an unexpected Christmas surprise on Thursday when a woman went into labor inside a subway car. Sergeant Daniel Caban and Officer Dorrell James were alerted by a passerby that a woman at the city’s 15th Street Station was ready to give birth. “As soon as we got there, I could see the baby’s head coming through her sweatpants, and we just went right to work,” Caban told KYW Newsradio. Officer James told the station that the delivery went well and that the mother and her baby boy were taken to a hospital for evaluation. Both officers visited the new mother on Friday; they say the mother told them she named her boy Chris, like Christmas.
