New York City police commissioner Bill Bratton made the rounds on the Sunday morning news shows, defending Mayor Bill de Blasio while also supporting the cops. Speaking on CBS' “Face The Nation,” Bratton denounced the cops gesture of turning their backs on de Blasio at the funeral for Officer Rafael Ramos as “very inappropriate.” Yet, Bratton spoke defensively of police officers on NBC's Meet The Press. “They really do feel under attack, rank-and-file officers and much of American police leadership," he said. "They feel that they are under attack from the federal government at the highest levels. So, that's something we need to understand also, this sense of perception that becomes a reality." Bratton doesn't think the tensions between cops and the mayor will end any time soon. "I think it's probably a rift that is going to go on for a while longer," he said.
