Just a few days before the Super Bowl, the NFL has announced the number of concussions fell 11.8 percent from last season due to new rules on helmet-to-helmet tackles. A total of 202 concussions were diagnosed in both preseason and regular-season games, as well as practice, compared with 229 last season. Overall since 2011, concussions have dropped 19.8 percent. The league also noted that the number of knee injuries has stayed roughly the same despite the fact that players are tackling opponents by the legs more frequently.
