Scientists have discovered a massive reservoir of magma below the supervolcano at Yellowstone National Park—11,200 cubic miles of the fiery material. The amount is so great that it could fill the Grand Canyon 14 times. The volcano, which erupted 640,000 years ago has a one and 700,000 chance of erupting each year. Researchers hope the new discovery will help them better understand the timing of the volcano’s cycle.
