Amos Yee, a teenage video blogger who made international news last month for a YouTube rant about recently deceased Singaporean founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, was convicted Tuesday of “uploading an obscene image” and “making remarks intending to hurt the feelings of Christians.” Deputy Public Prosecutor Hay Hung Chun called the 16-year-old “misguided,” adding that his “actions are far from being ‘noble’ or imbued with good intentions.” Because of his age, Yee will be sentenced June 2, depending on the outcome of his probationary period and counseling.
