George Clooney apparently couldn’t turn his recent dominance of the tabloids into a box office knockout, as his new film Tomorrowland disappointed with a $32.2 million debut. It had been expected to pull in $40 million. However, Clooney’s film still came in first, followed by Pitch Perfect 2 with roughly $30.3 million. Mad Max: Fury Road continued to do well, adding $23.8 million in its second week. Rounding out the top five are Poltergeist, with $23 million, and Age of Ultron, with $20.9 million.
