At least 500 people have died from massive heat wave sweeping India, with most deaths happening in the southern states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. More than 140 people have died in those two states alone since Saturday. Temperatures in New Delhi, the country's capital, soared to 111F as authorities urge citizens to stay inside and drink plenty of fluids. These conditions have been persistent in the southern states since mid-April but a majority of the deaths have occurred in the past week. The weather is supposed to continue unabatedly hot for at least a few more days.
