Philae, the European space probe currently sitting on a comet heading towards the sun, has woken up after a three month slumber. "We received new signals from (Philae) for a period of two minutes, as well as 40 seconds' worth of data," said Jean-Yves Le Gall, president of the National Centre for Space Studies (CNES). The Philae mission is an attempt by the agency to better understand comets, which are believed to hold the key to understanding how the solar system was formed. The probe landed on comet “g7P” after a 10-year journey on its mothership Rosetta.
