A first-of-its-kind report by insurance giant Lloyd’s says a cyberattack that takes out the Northeast’s power generators may trigger a blackout that leaves 93 million in the dark—and cost the country as much as $1 trillion in damage to the economy. The group’s estimates put damage at $243 billion in an average scenario, but warn that the number could quadruple depending on the circumstances.
