During a taped interview on Meet the Press on Sunday, Donald Trump suggested that he was interested in expanding the initial temporary proposed ban on Muslim immigration into the United States. “I’m looking now at territory. People were so upset when I used the word Muslim,” Trump told Chuck Todd. “Oh, you can’t use the word Muslim. Remember this. And I’m okay with that, because I’m talking territory instead of Muslim.”
When pressed about regions of the world like France and Germany that have seen recent terrorist attacks, Trump did not directly answer whether immigration would be banned from those countries as well. “Here is what I want: extreme vetting. Tough word. Extreme vetting,” he said. Additionally, Trump claimed that it is France’s fault that the country has seen recent devastating attacks.
