Sarah David, one of the Baltimore prosecutors tasked with trying the officers charged in the death of Freddie Gray, has resigned from the Baltimore State Attorney's Office. Her departure follows that of Lisa Phelps, another prosecutor on the case, after State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby announced last week that she would drop all charges against the officers involved in the deadly case. Mosby explained the dropping of the cases because, in her estimation, the presiding judge was unlikely to convict any of the officers. Gray, 25, died last April after suffering a severe spinal injury while restrained in the back of a police van. The reaction to his death in police custody led to multiple days of protests, which occasionally turned into violent clashes with law enforcement.
