A judge in Georgia ruled that sexual-abuse complaints involving USA Gymnastics must be released to the public on or before Sept. 30. According to an investigation, the national body’s executives did not forward allegations to law-enforcement officials unless the victim or a victim’s guardian gave permission. In four instances, coaches who were the subject of complaints reportedly went on to abuse other young gymnasts. USA Gymnastics has opposed the judge’s ruling and has said it plans to file an appeal. Judge Ronald K. Thompson said he would unseal 54 sex-abuse complaint documents, in addition to 12 depositions related to the case. They will first be reviewed so as not to publicly release information that is sensitive to victims and their medical records.
