Two Florida police officers will have to pay out $6.2 million to the two women they sexually assaulted while on duty, a federal judge in Miami has ruled. In May 2012, Officer Franklin Hartley pulled the women over and led them to a dark, isolated location outside Fort Lauderdale, according to reports. Officer Thomas Merenda joined, and the two cops sexually battered the women. Jane Doe 1, who has said she was raped on the hood of one of the officers’ patrol cars, will get $4.5 million in damages. Jane Doe 2 was awarded $1.7 million in damages. The officers are no longer employed by the departments and are facing criminal charges related to the incident.
