A Saudi prince was executed Tuesday after he was convicted of shooting another man dead during a brawl. The execution marks the first time a member of the royal family was executed in 40 years. The Saudi state news service said the prince, Prince Turki bin Saud bin Turki bin Saud al-Kabeer, was executed in Riyadh. The method of execution was not disclosed, but Saudi executions are usually carried out by beheading. The interior ministry’s official statement on the execution said the government “is keen to keep order, stabilize security, and bring about justice through implementing the rules prescribed by Allah.”
