The man who allegedly destroyed Donald Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is in police custody, the LAPD confirmed on Thursday. Trump first received the honorary star in 2007 for his work on reality-TV series The Apprentice. A man dressed as a construction worker, identifying himself as James Otis, struck the star with a pickax in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Otis claimed he did the deed in response to multiple sexual-assault allegations against the Republican presidential nominee—claims which Trump has denied and used as means to ramp up attacks against rival Hillary Clinton and her husband Bill. “I just sort of had enough with Mr. Trump’s aggressive language toward women and his behavior, his sexual violence with women and against women,” Otis told the Los Angles Times after doing the vandalism. “I’ve had personally in my own family four people who have been assaulted or have had sexual violence happen to them. It all became very personal.” The star itself was rebuilt the same day it was destroyed.
