Donald Trump on Thursday suggested his support is so vigorous and his rival so odious that the election should just be cancelled and handed to him. “I’m just thinking to myself right now: we should just cancel the election and just give it to Trump, right?” he said to a crowd in Toledo, Ohio. “What are we even having it for? Her policies are so bad!” The comments come as Trump trails Hillary Clinton both nationally and in a handful of key battleground states, while also losing ground in traditionally red states like Arizona, Utah, and Texas. Polling averages, however, do show him leading by a mere one percent in Ohio, where he spoke Thursday.
