What some are going so far as to dub the wedding of the century was cloaked in secrecy until the very end. Chelsea Clinton, daughter of former president Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, wed longtime partner Marc Mezvinsky in a private ceremony in upstate New York, at the Astor Courts estates. Clinton, a Methodist, and Mezvinsky, who is Jewish, had an interfaith ceremony conducted by a priest and a rabbi that incorporated Jewish traditions. Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents issued a statement expressing their “great pride and overwhelming emotion” for the occasion. The town of Rhinebeck was besieged with media and curious spectators from neighboring towns, hoping to ogle the powerful set that was expected to arrive in town for the wedding, for which many details remained unconfirmed. In the end, and after much speculation, the bride wore a strapless Vera Wang gown with beaded waist. Her mother was dressed in a plum-colored Oscar De La Renta dress.
