French fashion label Chloé has a new designer: Claire Waight Keller, formerly the head designer at Pringle of Scotland, will become the brand’s creative director. She will replace Hannah MacGibbon, who has worked at Chloé for 10 years and been creative director since 2008. Chloé's owners—Swiss luxury group Richemont—said MacGibbon was leaving to work on "new projects." MacGibbon helped keep Chloé afloat after creative director Phoebe Philo left in 2006, building on the minimalist aesthetic which Philo and her predecessor Stella McCartney spearheaded. Though her Fall 2011 show got mixed reviews, MacGibbon was praised in recent years for infusing Chloé's minimalist image with '70s-inspired sportswear. Chloé's Chief Executive Geoffroy de La Bourdonnaye said MacGibbon's "considerable talents will be missed." Keller will officially take over in June.
