Though he once supported Common Core, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has declared that the education standards are “simply not working” and proposed dropping them. While speaking at a New Jersey college Thursday, Christie said he wants to develop a group that will work on “new standards right here in New Jersey, not 200 miles away on the banks of the Potomac River.” The possible Republican presidential candidate said Common Core “has brought only confusion and frustration to our parents and has brought distance between our teachers and the communities where they work.
