The Associated Press reports that the CIA officer who supervised interrogations at Abu Ghraib is now part of a federal war crimes investigation. Steve Stormoen ran CIA negotiations at the infamous Iraqi prison, even though agency lawyers forbid agents from running their own interrogations. In 2003, CIA officers brought Manadel al-Jamadi to Abu Ghraib and interrogated him on their own; after an hour, he died. Federal prosecutors are now investigating whether al-Jamadi’s death constituted a war crime. Stormoen was not in the room when al-Jamadi died.
