An Army civilian employee was shot and killed at Fort Knox in Louisville, Kentucky, on Wednesday, leading to a temporary lockdown on the base. A spokesman for U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command said the killing was “not a random act of violence.” An FBI spokesman said two agents had been dispatched to the facility to assist in the investigation, which is home to more than 40,000 military personnel, families, and civilian employees. The victim’s name is being withheld for 24 hours until the family is contacted.
