The Colorado Supreme Court struck down on Monday two separate cities' limits on hydraulic fracturing, a controversial method of natural gas and oil extraction known as "fracking." Fort Collins's and Longmont's respective limits on fracking are "invalid and unenforceable," the high court said, because state law on the matter pre-empts local ordinances.
