To put together the list of the greenest big energy companies in America, we sifted through the 2012 Newsweek Green Rankings, an annual ranking compiled in conjunction with research partners Trucost and Sustainalytics. The largest 500 companies in the U.S. were compared across all sectors based on environmental impact, management and transparency.
